Baraka Foundation is a dynamic, non-profit organisation founded as a strategic Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by the CEO of a mining conglomerate operating across three districts. We represent a transformative model of private sector-led philanthropy that integrates community well-being with sustainable development.
Our work is deeply rooted in partnership with local communities, government agencies, civil society actors, and international organisations. We operate across Tonkolili District, Bo District, and Koinadugu, with expansion plans underway in other regions.
Our vision: A peaceful, equitable, and empowered Sierra Leone where all individuals — especially those in resource-extracted communities — live with dignity, opportunity, and resilience.
We act with transparency, honesty, and accountability in all our programmes and partnerships.
We promote fairness, inclusion, and social justice in all our work, ensuring no community is left behind.
We build the capacities of individuals and communities to drive their own change and development.
We collaborate with communities, government agencies, stakeholders, and development actors.
We invest in solutions that foster long-term positive impact well beyond our direct intervention.

Our programmes are designed in close collaboration with local communities and respond to their most urgent needs. We operate across key mining-affected districts in Sierra Leone, ensuring that business operations are directly linked to meaningful community benefits.
All staff, partners, and vendors operate under robust safeguarding policies covering child protection, gender-based violence prevention, and anti-corruption standards.

We build and rehabilitate schools, distribute learning materials, train teachers, and provide scholarships for girls and vulnerable children. In Diang Chiefdom, we have rehabilitated school blocks and supported access to education for the most marginalised.

We rehabilitated two health centres in Diang Chiefdom and constructed a Safe Mother Delivery House for women with no access to safe childbirth facilities. Our teams respond to urgent maternal healthcare gaps in rural and peri-urban districts.

Our food donation initiatives have reached communities in Koinadugu, Kenema, Bo, Tonkolili, and Lungi — providing rice, cooking oil, and essential supplies to vulnerable families, women's groups, youth, and people with disabilities.

We have trained over 100 youth and women in livelihood and vocational skills. We supported the Women in Tourism Regional Congress in Freetown in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, and we actively promote women's leadership in all our programmes.
